Joy to the World!
This is the picture I'm looking at right now on the bulletin board above my desk. It's got five long-legged birds walking in a line, the leader with it's head high into the air appearing to be singing. The song continues..."Let earth receive her king. Let every heart prepare him room."
Receive...Prepare...
How does one receive? Make room for something/someone?
Is there any room in your heart for the New Life of Christmas? Or is it too full/busy/preoccupied with other things?
Taking some "extra" time for prayer/reflection/ritual either individually or as a family is an Advent thing to do. Perhaps inviting God into your heart, into your family, into your workplace is a fitting Advent prayer. Whatever you do, continue to celebrate the Christmas season for as long as it is--until the feast of the Baptism of Jesus in January. EG: When I was growing up my family used to go bowling on the feast of the Holy Family, the Sunday after Christmas. Find a way that works for you and your family.
May you prepare and receive the NEW LIFE of this season and experience the JOY this New Life comes to bring. This is my prayer.
